Take Our Kids to Work Day

Take Our Kids to Work Day ~Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Take Our Kids to Work™ is an annual national program in which grade 9 students are hosted by parents, relatives and volunteers at workplaces across the country. The program supports career development by helping students connect school, the world of work and their own futures.

Take Our Kids to Work™ is now active in all provinces and territories across the country. More than 1.5 million students and 75,000 workplaces have participated.

  • To give students a chance to explore their future.
  • To help students understand the importance of staying in school.
  • To help students appreciate a parent’s role in making a living and supporting a family.

Research suggests that today’s students will have multiple careers over the span of their working years. They will need to master both new technologies and complex social and organizational systems. Today’s students need a strong sense of self and values of personal and social responsibility in order to succeed in the future.

As part of Manitoba Career Week, the Alliance of Manitoba Sector Councils will be hold an all-day event at 1000 Waverley Street to celebrate Take Our Kids to Work Day 2009.

The event will include cool interactive and fun activities, Career Information Booths and Online Career Exploration.

All parents are invited to drop-in with their grade 9 students and learn about the 1,000’s of exciting careers in Manitoba.
